Can you believe this is the last newsletter for this school year? We will spend the first part of May discussing May Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Mother's Day. The remainder of May will be spent on a unit on the farm.
LETTERS OF THE WEEK
For the rest of the year we will be learning about the letters X, Y, and Z.
YEARLY JOBS
By Thursday, May 15th, all yearly parent jobs should be completed. Please check our sign-up sheet on the bulletin board if you are not sure which job you said you would do.
CINCO DE MAYO
We will celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the classroom on Monday, May 5th.
SUMMER BROCHURE
The summer brochure is out. The Kids Corner Classes (for children who have been in the 3 & 4 year old preschool classes) will be held in our classroom. Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Kamalski will be teaching, and would love to have your children join us.
FIELD TRIP
On Friday, May 16th, we will go to the Westmont High School Farm for a tour. We will meet no later than 9 am. More details and a map will be out by the end of next week.
DAD'S NIGHT
Dad's night is Wednesday, May 21st. There will NOT be a morning class on that day. Instead, children will come to school with their dads (grandpas, uncles, etc.) from 6:30 to 8 pm. (Please no siblings!) Be sure to have dads reserve that night. If there is no dad or other male relative available to attend, Mom is certainly welcome. The purpose of the evening is to let Dad see the classroom, meet the teachers, and get an idea of what the children do each day.
SCHOOL CLOSED
Monday, May 26th, we will be closed in observation of Memorial Day.
END OF YEAR PROGRAM
Our End-of-Year program will be on Wednesday, June 4th at 7 pm. There will NOT be a morning class on the day of our program! Children should be here by 6:45 pm. All parents, grandparents, and siblings are invited. This will take place in our classroom so seating will be very limited. We refer to this as our "End-of-Year" program rather than "graduation." The children do NOT wear graduation hats, but usually dress up in their best clothes. We will serve refreshments and visit on the playground after the program. We will have a refreshment sign-up list out at the end of May. The children will receive their yearbooks at our program. We have asked for a $15-20 donation from each family for the yearbook, and would like to have this no later than Friday, May 16th. I know your child will treasure this book.
PARK DAY
Friday, June 6th will be our last day of school for this year. We will meet at Hathaway Park at Vallejo Drive at 9:30 am. The park has play equipment, water, sand and a large grass area, so you may want to bring a picnic blanket. Do bring your lunch. There are picnic tables where we will plan to have lunch about 11:15 am. A map will be available in June.
PRESCHOOL FOR FALL
We still have some openings for our fall classes. If you have friends, neighbors, or relatives looking for a preschool for fall, please tell them about our school. We will once again offer parent participation and non-participation spots in both classes. Please pass the word! Thanks!
DONATIONS WELCOMED
1. Computer and copy paper for the free art center.
