MACC Preschool: Where Learning and Growth are FUNdamental!
Please pardon our dust: our website is under renovation as is our facility this summer :-)
MACC Preschool has educated children since 1972. We believe children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. In developing and employing our curriculum, we consider the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative needs of each child. Our developmentally appropriate curriculum includes art, science, math, singing, movement, stories, dramatic play, and both free activity time and group time.
Our Morning Preschool Classes are play-based, concentrating on socialization; helping children develop good listening skills, a cooperative and sharing attitude; and fostering self-esteem. We also support large and small motor skills development. Classes provide exposure to language, music, movement, art, and science exploration. We introduce colors, numbers, shapes, and the alphabet throughout the year.
Our Morning PreKindergarten Classes (aka "PreK") aim to nurture socially adept, confident, independent learners ready for Kindergarten and beyond. Our curriculum introduces phonics, handwriting basics, reading readiness, and number concepts. It also offers activities in math, science, language, and the arts. To supplement preK, we offer a 2-day weekly program, preK Enrichment, in which students further explore science, math, literature, and the arts through hands-on, project-oriented activities, both individually and in groups.
Our Afternoon Options include Lunch Bunch, Enrichment Afternoon, and After School Classes. Lunch Bunch, available daily, is an hour of supervised lunch and play with peers and teachers (you provide the lunch), 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Enrichment Afternoon is also available daily and includes Lunch Bunch, 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Students have opportunities to engage with teacher-selected topics in more depth as well as engage in free and directed play opportunities. Teacher-chosen topics may include cooking, science, art and artists, phonics, math, drama, and athletic activities, among others. Nap or quiet time is available as needed. In After School Care, 3:00 - 6:00 PM, children engage in free and directed play options. Students may nap as needed. The After School Care pick-up time is flexible to meet your needs.
Our teachers are fully qualified with experience and education meeting or exceeding state licensing requirements. They attend preschool and Kindergarten professional conferences and training throughout the year. They also foster and maintain contact with local Kindergarten teachers. We maintain a low teacher:student ratio in our classes, striving for a ratio lower than the state mandate of 1:12, achieving between 1:8 and 1:10 on average.
